Heartbreak Hits Bushnell in Overtime

PORTLAND, Ore.  – The waning moments of each period were the home to goals on Sunday, with the final coming with just over a minute remaining in overtime as Lewis & Clark College defeated Bushnell University, 2-1.

A nearly scoreless first half was broken up by the Pios with just 19 seconds to play as Alexa Myers scored off a pass from Brecklyn Beighle.

The Beacons added the game-tying score in the 88th minute as sophomore Taylor Bryant found junior Blake Danna (pictured) who connected on her first goal of the season.

The game went to a second overtime where in the 109th minute, on a third straight corner kick for the Pioneers, Courtney Schmidt launched a 20-yard strike that barely bounced directly on the end line to end the game.

Bushnell (0-3) outshot Lewis-Clark 13-11 for the game, including a 7-5 advantage in shots-on-goal. Makenna Hadaller finished the game with three saves in goal for the Beacons.

Bushnell will return to action on Sunday, March 7 when they return home to face Corban University in Cascade Collegiate Conference action at 1:30 pm.
