Weekend Preview

MEN'S SOCCER
Saturday 10/30 at Corban, 3:30 pm (Livestats|Video Stream)

The Beacons (2-13, 2-10 CCC) return to the pitch for the first time in three weeks and will close out the 2021 season against the Corban Warriors.

Corban (9-6, 8-4) will not earn their third-straight CCC championship, but they have qualified for the CCC tournament and have clinched at least a fourth-place finish. They come in looking to improve after a two-game losing streak on the road to Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon last weekend.

The Warriors are 17-3-3 all-time against the Beacons, and have won four straight in the series. Bushnell has not defeated Corban since 2010.

SENIOR NIGHT: Thanks to the generosity of the coaches and administration at Corban, the Bushnell seniors will be honored as part of a pre-game ceremony. The Beacons missed out on their own senior day celebration due to COVID protocols a few weeks back. Esgar Avila, Arjuna Chotu, Fausto Gomez, Julian Hernandez, Joel Kambou, Andrew Mitchell, and Raul Ochoa will be honored.

MILESTONE WATCH: Already the all-time leader for Keeper Minutes played (4159), Julian Hernandez is closing in on another Bushnell record, needing 12 saves on Saturday to become the career leader in that category as well.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Saturday 10/30 at Corban, 6:00 pm (Livestats|Video Stream)

The Beacons (4-12, 2-9 CCC) close out the season on Saturday at Corban. The Beacons have produced their best season in three years and look to get to five victories for the first time since 2016. It will be the final collegiate game for seniors Jamie Figueredo, Anabel Mendez, and Amanda Whetten.

Corban (11-4, 7-4) recently produced a six-game winning streak, but dropped both last weekend to CCC-leading Oregon Tech and second-place Southern Oregon. The Warriors could finish anywhere from second to seventh-place in the conference depending on outcomes this weekend.

The Warriors own the all-time series with Bushnell, 15-1, and have won six straight.

MILESTONE WATCH: In her first year as a collegiate goalkeeper, Anabel Mendez has had quite the season. She has collected 120 saves this season, broke the single-game record with 18 against The College of Idaho back on September 25, and needs 18 to tie the single-season record of 138 which has stood since 2007.

VOLLEYBALL
Friday 10/29 vs. Northwest, 7:00 pm (Livestats|Video Stream)
Saturday 10/30 vs. Evergreen, 5:00 pm (Livestats|Video Stream)

The Beacons (17-5, 13-5 CCC) were given a boost of confidence this week as the national coaches poll voters moved Bushnell into the NAIA Top-25 for the first time ever, even after a pair of losses last weekend. Now the Beacons will look to close out the regular season on a high, hoping to remain in the 3rd or 4th-place slot to earn a home game for the opening round of the CCC post-season tournament.

First up will be Northwest University (11-12, 10-8) on Friday, and a win for the Beacons will officially clinch a third-straight post-season appearance. Bushnell defeated the Eagles earlier this month in three sets, 25-20, 25-19, 25-21, but NU holds a 17-11 lead in the all-time series.

Northwest is in the throes of a four-team battle for the final two playoff spots and currently holds a one-game lead over a trio of schools.

One of that trio is Evergreen (9-10, 9-9) who pays a visit to the Morse Center on Saturday. The Geoducks have proven to be a pesky opponent this season, taking Eastern Oregon, OIT and Bushnell all to five-sets. Bushnell won in Olympia earlier this season, taking the fifth set 16-14. The Beacons are 19-9 in the all-time series.

SENIOR NIGHT: Camille Guerrero, Jackie Harmon and Callie Wilkins will be honored before the match on Saturday.

MILESTONE WATCH: Makenna Northern will look to become just the second Bushnell player ever to have 3000 assists as she is just 28 away from the Milestone. Cori Wallace (2010-2013) is the only other play ever to hit that plateau and is the career-record holder with 3174 career assists.
