Owls Score Five in 2nd Half to Defeat Beacons

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech used five goals in the second half to defeat visiting Bushnell and come away with the shutout in Saturday afternoon's Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer match.

Bushnell (4-12, 2-9 CCC) entered the break in a scoreless tie with No. 23 Oregon Tech (12-2, 9-1), who now leads the CCC with 27 points. The Beacons were outshot 13-1 in the first half but were holding their own against one of the best teams in the conference for the second day in a row. The Beacons took on Southern Oregon the day before and trailed by just one until the final minutes.

Oregon Tech took control in the second half, firing off 20 shots in the period and scoring on five of them. Sylvia Sloss finished with two goals and an assist for the Owls, scoring her goals just eight minutes apart.

Emily Puita, Blake Danna and Amanda Whetten each recorded a shot for the Beacons, who finished with a 33-3 deficit in shots. Senior goalkeeper Anabel Mendez secured 12 saves for Bushnell.

The Beacons conclude the 2021 season with a match at Corban University on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m.
