Beacons Close Season with Loss to Corban

SALEM, Ore. -- Bushnell University trailed by just one at halftime on Saturday evening, but Corban University used a five-goal second half to secure the victory over the Beacons in Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer action at the CFC Soccer Complex.

Corban (12-4, 8-4 CCC) outshot the Beacons 27-5 on the match and finished with a 14-3 lead in shots on goal.

Amanda Whetten, Jamie Figueredo and Anabel Mendez played in their final match for the Beacons on Saturday. "We are losing some amazing seniors in Amanda, Jamie and Anabel," said Head Coach Benny Flores.

Mendez recorded eight saves on the night, putting her at 128 on the season. She now ranks second in single season saves in the Bushnell record book.

Flores said, "I am proud of this team. They are players that never backed down from a challenge. It didn't matter the score or place they were going to compete."

The Beacons finish the season with a 4-13 overall record and 2-10 mark in conference play.

"I am really excited for next season," said Flores. "We have some very talented players coming back. We are going to have a great blend of young and old players. This season was the next step in the evolution of our program. I am excited about the future. Go Beacs!"
