PORTLAND, Ore. - The Northwest Christian University men's basketball fell to Warner Pacific 84-78 on Saturday night.
The teams were tied on eight occasions and traded 17 lead changes throughout the contest, however Warner Pacific was able to pull away in the second half behind 22-for-28 shooting from the free throw line. A significant difference maker in the game was free throws as the Knights shot 29-for-38 from the free throw line while the Beacons were just 8-for-11.
Junior
Ernest Ugoagu led the way for Beacons (14-14, 9-9 CCC) scoring a game-high 27 points on 9-for-18 shooting from the field and 8-for-14 from beyond the arc along with grabbing five rebounds. Freshman
Kaden Sand scored 12 points and seven rebounds while
Shawn Carson added ten points and eight rebounds.
Riley Anderson and
Stevie Schlabach combined to score 26 points off the bench. The Beacons shot 39% from the field and 14-for-33 from beyond the arc along with outrebounding the Knights 42-38 with 11 offensive rebounds.
KJ Bosco led Warner Pacific (14-13, 9-9) with 17 points on 14-of-15 shooting from the free throw line along with a game-high 11 rebounds. Jalen Ballard scored 17 points and five assists while Morris Bethea added nine points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
The Beacons will return to Eugene for their final home games of the season as they take on The College of Idaho on Friday, February 21, at 7:30pm and then Eastern Oregon University for Senior Night on Saturday, February 22, at 7:30pm in the Morse Event Center.
