Ashland, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University men's basketball team fell to No. 15 Southern Oregon, 77-74, on Saturday night.
After trailing 35-27 at halftime, NCU was able to narrow the deficit and take a 71-70 lead over SOU with just over two minutes remaining in the game. Despite outscoring the Raiders 47-42 in the second half, the late surge was not enough for the Beacons to steal the road victory.
Junior
Ernest Ugoagu led the way for the Beacons (9-10, 4-5 CCC) scoring a team-high 18 points and five rebounds while
Kaden Sand tallied 15 points and five rebounds.
Shawn Carson added 11 points and seven rebounds. The Beacons outrebounded the Raiders 41-37 with 12 offensive rebounds.
Tate Hoffman led Southern Oregon (15-4, 9-2) with a game-high 24 points and ten rebounds while Aaron Borich scored 15 points, seven assists, and five rebounds. Tez Allen added 14 points and seven rebounds in the win.
NCU will next travel to Washington to take on Northwest University on Friday, January 24, at 7:30pm and then The Evergreen State College on Saturday, January 25, at 7:30pm.
