Eugene, Ore. - The Northwest Christian University women's soccer team opened Cascade Collegiate Conference play with a loss Friday to No. 7 Eastern Oregon. The Mounties (4-0-1, CCC 1-0) won 10-0, outscoring the Beacons 9-0 in the second half.
Reigning Cascade Conference Player of the Week Morgan Farrington completed the hat trick and two assists for EOU scoring the lone goal in the first half and two in the second. Junior Camie Edgington added two goals and three assists for EOU while sophomore MacKinley Gregus added two goals off the bench for the Mounties. The Beacons were outshot 35-1 as they were held to zero shots on goal for the match.
Freshman Taylor Bryant attempted the lone shot for the Beacons.
Following the loss Northwest Christian Head Coach Benny Flores stated, "When dealing with a young and inexperienced team you will often see the best and worst of the team in the same game. The first half today we played well. We battled and competed with a great team, but we came out in the second half and didn't match the execution or intensity of EOU. The ladies are committed to change the culture of NCU soccer and this is just a step in that journey. We will be ready to compete tomorrow!"
NCU (1-5, CCC 0-1) will look to bounce back Saturday as they play host to The College of Idaho at the Les Schwab Sports Park at 12:30 pm.
