Jury Breaks 400 Meter Hurdle Record

5/4/2019 11:46:00 PM

EUGENE, Ore. –The collegiate Track & Field season is all about peaking at the right time and for two NCU seniors heading into next week's Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship, the trajectory continues to be on track for a strong end to the season.

Micah Jury and Michael Andrews, who own the career top-ten lists for the 400m Hurdles and Pole Vault respectively, both broke their own school records on Saturday at the Linfield Open and head into the conference meet with about as much momentum as possible.

Jury claimed the victory in a 12-man field by over two seconds, running a 55.39 to top his own NCU all-time best which was set last season.

Andrews broke his school record in the Pole Vault for the third time this season, clearing 4.60m and moving up to No. 5 on the CCC performance list. Year-over-year, Andrews has added nearly 12 inches to his previous record.

In addition, NCU's 4x400m relay team posted a season-best time as Shawn Johnson, Antonio Campos-Perez, Nicolas Delgado, and Jury came in at 3:21.12. It was the second-fastest time in school history and moves the Beacons into third-place on the CCC performance list.

The Beacons will send 15 athletes to the conference championship, which will begin Friday afternoon at Southern Oregon University.
