EUGENE, Ore. –The Northwest Christian University men's track & field team continues to show marked improvements across the board as the season continues to roll toward the conference championships. While no new CCC qualifications were claimed, a school-record was broken, an NAIA "B" standard was reached, and multiple season-bests were hit as the Beacons competed at the Oregon State High Performance meet.
Â
Leading the way was
Dan Carrier (pictured) who cleared the provisional standard in the Steeplechase for the first time, coming across the finish line in 9 minutes, 13.50 seconds.
Â
Senior
Michael Andrews once again topped his own record in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 4.51 meters.
Â
Senior
Micah Jury lowered his season-best times in both Hurdle events, coming in at 16.26 in the 110m and 56.14 in the 400m.
Â
Meanwhile, the NCU throws team competed at the Boise State Border Clash with
Logan Oakerman getting some tune-up work in on the discus and shot put. He has already qualified for conference in both events.
Â
The Beacons will conclude the regular season next weekend with a pair of "Last Chance" opportunities to hit conference qualifications. Members of the team will compete on Friday at the University Portland Twilight and on Saturday at the Linfield Open.
