Oakerman Highlights SOU Invite

4/13/2019 9:54:00 PM

ASHLAND, Ore. – Sophomore Logan Oakerman broke a four-year old school record in the Discus on Saturday at the Southern Oregon University Raider Invite. Another Beacon punched his ticket to the CCC championships and a number of NCU season-best times were broken as Northwest Christian University passed the halfway point of the 2019 outdoor season.

Oakerman's heave of 42.69 surpasses the previous record, set by Tyler Fox in 2015, by just under seven feet and it gives the sophomore the heavy-implement trifecta as he owns the shot put, discus and hammer records for the Beacons.

The Beacon roster for the Cascade Collegiate Conference championships increased to 14 men on Saturday with the addition of freshman Josh Beecher. Beecher ran an 11.29 in the 100m, clearing the standard by 5/100ths of a second.

A number of Beacons continue to improve and notably among the improvements were Antonio Campos-Perez and his relay teammates. Campos set season-low times in both the 100m (11.04) and 200m (22.39) events and both the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams improved their marks.

NCU returns to action next Saturday, competing in Eugene for the first time this season in the Lane Community College Titan Twilight.
