FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The opening weekend of the 2019 Outdoor Track & Field season proved to be a successful one for the Northwest Christian University women as ten Beacons hit Cascade Collegiate Conference qualifying marks.
 
Leading the way was freshman Savannah Proske, qualifying for all three jumping events (High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump) in her collegiate debut. Proske posted the top mark in the CCC so far this season in the high jump, taking second-place at 1.55m. She was third in the Long Jump (5.02m), coming in just behind teammate Christy Seaton (5.14m) who also qualified for conference.
 
Senior Cass Brownell won the 1500m race, beating a field of 26 runners with the top time in the CCC this season (4:46.73) as she missed an NAIA "B" standard by just four seconds.
 
Senior Bri Jury landed a pair of qualifications, winning the 400m Hurdles (1:07.03) and taking seventh in the 100m Hurdles. Seaton and Jordyn Edewards also qualified in the 100m Hurdles.
 
The Beacons will be back in action next weekend, traveling to compete in the Lewis & Clark Spring Break Open.
