Salem, Ore. - With under 30 seconds remaining in regulation, NCU's
Logan Davis was able to get a steal which led to a
Logan Sand game-winning bucket as the Beacons upset No. 24 ranked Corban 79-78 in the first game of Cascade Conference play for both schools.
Freshman
Kaden Sand (pictured) entered CCC play with a strong performance as he led NCU (4-5, 1-0 CCC) with a career-high 27 points and eight rebounds on a 9-16 shooting performance.
Malik Corey had nine points while
Ernest Ugoagu and
Stevie Schlabach each added eight. The Beacons shot 47% from the field and 10-25 from beyond the arc in the victory.
NCU Head Coach
Eddie Alexander stated, "It was an amazing effort by
Kaden Sand tonight. Tonight was a huge team win for us. A few guys are banged up and other guys were able to step up. We have a lot more in the tank and I'm excited to see where this young team could get!"
Corban (6-4, 0-1) had five players in double figures as they were led by Tyler Wadleigh with 16 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Beau Roggenbach had 14 points while Taylor Anderson, Mauricio Smith, and Isiah Quintero each added 10 points.
NCU will look to continue their momentum as they take on New Hope Christian College on Friday, December 6, at 7pm at the Rexius Event Center.
