EUGENE, Ore. – It was a difficult weekend for the Beacons as they traveled to face Evergreen and Northwest in a pair of Cascade Collegiate Conference matches. The Geoducks took a 3-0 victory on Friday night while the Eagles defeated NCU, 3-1.

Evergreen 3, NCU 0 (27-25, 25-20, 25-12)

After starting off with a tight first game, the Beacons trailed off as they were unable to solve the Geoduck offense. ESC hit .324 in the second set and .409 in the final fight while also holding a 12-6 advantage in blocks for the night.

Natalie Taylor swung for 17 kills, hitting .441 with three blocks while Chloee Hunt added 15 kills and .579 attack percentage with four blocks. Tasha Hungate posted one kill on just five swings, but led all players with seven blocks.

The Beacons were led by
Claire Salness, posting 13 kills and just one error for a .343 clip.
Makenna Northern led the team with 22 assists while
Kayla Olson posted a match-high 14 digs.
Megan Van Marter was one three Beacons to collect six kills while adding two service aces and four blocks.

Northwest 3, NCU 1 (25-27, 25-23, 25-18, 25-20)

The Saturday match played out in similar fashion, only the Beacons were able to come out on top of the extra-point first set as they hit .396 as a team. The Eagles also out-blocked the Beacons, 13-5, and hit over .300 on the night as a unit.

Claire Salness led all players with 17 kills while Van Marter had another solid match, hitting .500 with 14 kills and just one error to go along with four blocks.
Kayla Olson led the match with 19 digs, adding four of the Beacons ten service aces.
Mary Grace Blaser was also strong on the back line, collecting 17 digs.

Northwest was led by Keann White who had 16 kills and seven blocks. Hannah Lord added 14 kills and Kylie Szczepanski led team with eight blocks. Abigail Broussard tagged the Beacons for seven service aces.

The Beacons will be back in action on Friday night as they travel to Salem to take on Corban University at 7:30 pm.Â
