Wright Qualifies, Four Records Fall

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Senior TJ Wright ran the third-fastest 3000m Steeplechase time in the country this season, leading the Beacons at the John Knight Twilight on Friday at Western Oregon University.
 
Wright ran a 9:22.54 to win the Steeple event, hitting the NAIA "A" Standard to become the first NCU man to qualify outright for the national championships this season.
 
Four school records were also broken on Friday, including a four-year old mark in the shot put. Freshman Logan Oakerman posted a toss of 12.42m, breaking the previous record set by Tysen Buhler in 2014.
 
Freshman Josh McCluskey became the second Beacon to break the 400m record this season, hitting a 50.28. Junior Micah Jury broke his own school record in the 400m Hurdles, coming across in a winning time of 55.94.
 
Also winning their race and setting a new school record was the 4x400m relay team of McCluskey, Antonio Campos-Perez, Matt Jones, and Jury who ran a 3:20.00 to clear the previous standard by over two seconds.
 
Also earning an event win was Jones in the 200m (22.01) while over at the Jen Boyman Invitational at Linfield College, Carson Bain won the men's 10000m run with a time of 34:34.62.
