ASHLAND, Ore. – One school record fell, one new one was established, and five new conference qualifiers were attained this weekend as the Beacons competed at the Raider Invitational, hosted by Southern Oregon University.
 
The 4x100m relay standard dipped by 1/100th of a second as Dominic Cantu, Antonio Campos-Perez, Matt Jones, and Nicolas Delgado came in at 42.08 to take third-place.
 
Cantu, already a conference qualifier for the 100m, added his name to the 200m list as well, running a 22.96.
 
First-time qualifiers for the Beacons were freshman Carson Bain in the Steeplechase (10:28.87) and Jayden Tucker in the triple-jump, landing a 12.14m for the third-longest jump in school history.
 
An historical moment also occurred as freshman thrower Logan Oakerman became NCU's first ever Hammer thrower, landing a toss of 32.50m to establish the first new event record for the Beacons in five years. Oakerman also added his name to the Javelin qualifiers list, giving him three events at the CCC Championships.
 
The Beacons will return to action this weekend at the Oregon State High Performance Meet.
