FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Beacon men's track & field team claimed five event wins on Saturday at the Pacific Preview. One school record also fell.
 
Senior TJ Wright got his season off to a strong start, claiming victory in the 3000m Steeplechase with a conference qualifying time of 9:36.58. Wright missed an NAIA "B" qualification by just 4 ½ seconds.
 
Senior Garrett Kraal also earned a victory, claiming a 21-second route in the 5000m, running a 15:31.65.
 
In the 400m hurdles, junior Micah Jury (pictured) ran a 57.22 to win his event and earn a CCC qualification.
 
Also winning were both the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams. The 100m relay team of Dominic Cantu, Antonio Campos-Perez, Matt Jones, and Nicolas Delgado beat their nearest competitor by nearly a full second with a time of 42.90.
 
In the 4x400m relay, Juneau Meyer, Jones, Josh McCluskey, and Shawn Johnson came close to a school record, running a 3:22.88. A second relay team (Campos-Perez, Delgado, Cantu, Jury) finished second as they came in at 3:24.11.
 
For the second straight week the school 400m record was reset, this time by Shawn Johnson. The freshman ran a 50.37, and took second-place.
 
In total, 13 men qualified for the conference championships including one that also hit an NAIA "B" standard. Senior Christian Hackney took second-place with a toss of 55.25m in the Javelin. Aaron Hackney was close behind at 54.79m, missing the "B" mark by just eight inches.
