Hastings Holds Yotes to Two in Loss

CALDWELL, Idaho – Junior Goalkeeper Katie Hastings had a busy afternoon as the Beacons fell to The College of Idaho, 2-1.

The Beacons (2-9-1, 1-6-1 CCC) were out-shot 28-3 in the contest and allowed 14 shots-on-goal, allowing one score in each half, Hastings ended the game with a career-high 12 saves.

Despite the lopsided stat sheet, NCU was actually the first team on the scoreboard, punching in a goal less than five minutes into the game. Freshman Hannah Best took a long through-ball from Jamie Figueredo and fired it into the back of the net for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.

The Yotes (6-3-2, 3-3-1) tied things up just ten minutes later, with a breakaway through-ball of their own. Then, C of I scored the game-winner in the second half, as Maddie Brown collected the ball off a defensive miscue and beat Hastings to the left corner.

NCU will return to action on Saturday, heading further east to Billings, Montana where they face Rocky Mountain College at 12 pm MST.
