GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The NCU women's soccer team scored two goals in the final 19 minutes of the game, but couldn't overcome an early hole, falling 3-2 to University of Providence in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

The Argonauts (2-3, 1-0 CCC) did plenty of damage early, building a 2-0 lead before the game was even 10 minutes old. At the 1:29 mark the struck as Soraya Alfaro scored on a loose ball off of a corner kick. Just five minutes later, Sandralee Deville sent Eme McLaughlin on a breakaway and McLaughlin finished from ten yards out.

UP struck again early in the second half on another corner kick. This time, in the 54th minute, Sydney Knieriem curled the corner kick just inside the near post to score it herself.

With the game seemingly out of hand after the first 65 minutes, the Beacons awoke and began their attempt to respond. They broke through in the 72nd minute when
Libby Gregory collected a deflection off the keeper and The original shooter, Sami Wilson, was credited with the assist.

Continuing to fight, the Beacons were the benefactors of a penalty kick with just 7:35 remaining in the contest.
Britnee Joaquin (pictured) punched it home to make it 3-2, but that score would stand.

The Beacons (1-4, 1-2) were out-shot 18-12 in the game. Sophomore
Katie Hastings came away with four saves in the game.

NCU will be back in action on Saturday, traveling to Helena to take on Carroll College at 2:00 pm MST.Â
