EUGENE, Ore. – Junior
TJ Wright had an historic run this weekend, leading the Beacons as they split between three separate meets.
Â
The reigning CCC 3000m Steeplechase champion and 2016 All-American destroyed his own previous school record in the event, hitting a 9:05.86 to take tenth-place out of 75 runners at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival. The only runners ahead of him were NCAA Division I athletes and his mark was the fastest in the NAIA this season. He also hit the NAIA "A" qualification standard and will have the opportunity to repeat his All-American honors in May.
Â
NCU was also competing at the Stanford Invitational where
Christian Hackney took fourth-place in the javelin, with a heave of 56.67m. It was the second-longest throw of the season for the NAIA qualifier.
Â
Another portion of the team competed at Pacific University in the Jen Boyman Invitational. Leading the way there was
Luke Sparks who grabbed his first ever CCC qualification in the 800m, running a 1:57.09.Â
