Second Chances Lead Eagles to Upset Win

EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University women's basketball team dropped a tough CCC game on Saturday night to Northwest University, falling 63-55.

The Beacons were outrebounded 47-31 in the game and the Eagles collected 20 offensive boards which they translated into a 16-0 advantage in second-chance points. NCU had just two grabs on the offensive glass.

Head Coach Heath Alexander said, "It is really tough to win games when you get out-rebounded the way we did tonight. For us to take the next big step as a program we must get tougher. I know we are up for the task and we will be better the next time we play."

The Beacons drop to 16-9 with the loss but hold on to a two-game lead for fourth place in the CCC with an 11-5 conference mark. The Eagles improved to 12-15, 7-10 in conference.

NCU was led by Andrea Gloss (pictured), scoring 14 points as she shot 7-for-11 from the field. Monique Thompson added 12 points and seven rebounds and Hanna Mack finished with eight points, leading all players with eight rebounds and four blocks.

Northwest had three players in double-figures, led by 13 from Charmaine Bradford. Mariah Stacona added 12 while Brianna Fiso finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. NU shot just 2-for-17 from three-point range but scored 13 points off of 19 Beacon turnovers.

The Beacons will return to the court on Thursday night when they travel to Portland to take on Multnomah University at 7:30 pm. NU returns to the court next Saturday, taking on Walla Walla University on the road at 6:30 pm.
