PORTLAND, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University women's basketball team blocked a school-record 11 shots on Thursday night, claiming a 61-49 victory over Multnomah University.
Hanna Mack (pictured) had five blocks, tying the individual school record as well.
Â
NCU (17-9, 12-5 CCC) used their dominant height advantage all evening, finishing with a 55-39 advantage in rebounds including 24 on the offensive glass. The Beacons needed every one of their blocks as they shot just 30% from the field. 13 second-chance points for NCU proved to be the difference.

Head Coach
Heath Alexander said, "On a night when we didn't shoot the ball very well, our effort on the boards pair off. We spent a lot of time working on that in the last few days and it showed."
Â
Four players scored in double-digits for NCU, led by a 15-point night from
Niki Duncan. She splashed five three-pointers in the game, and set a new NCU single-season record with 56.
Monique Thompson scored 13 points and five steals and
Andrea Gloss produced a double-double with ten points, ten rebounds, four assists, and four blocks. Mack also scored ten.
Â
The Beacons will look to tie the school wins record on Saturday night when they travel back to Portland to take on Warner Pacific College at 5:30 p.m. The magic number is now down to 2 to secure a top-four finish in the CCC and ensure a home playoff game in the first round.Â
