EUGENE, Ore.  – The No. 8 ranked Northwest Christian University men's basketball team won their 12th consecutive game on Tuesday night, completing a season sweep of Corban University with a 68-55 win. NCU shot just 39% from the field, but out-rebounded the Warriors 48-36 to remain alone in first place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.

Northwest Christian improves to 19-4 on the season, giving them their highest win total since joining the NAIA in 2007. The Beacons are 12-1 in the CCC, maintaining a 1 ½ game lead over No. 15 Southern Oregon. Meanwhile, Corban falls to 11-9 overall and 5-7 in conference action.

As per usual, all five Beacon starters were in double-figures once again, led by a 12-point, 8-rebound effort from senior
Omar Richards.
Kenny Blackwell scored 11 points with five assists and
Jack Hackman scored 11 along with a team-high two steals.
Javonte Byrd and
Austin Kuemper each scored ten. Coming off the bench,
Jay Mayernik had another solid night with eight points and a career-high 15 rebounds.

Corban was led in defeat by Cyrus Ward and Joel Johnson, each scoring 13 points. Johnson added a team-high nine rebounds. Warrior leading scorer AJ Monterossi was held to just eight points on 2-for-14 shooting.

NCU returns to the court on Saturday night when they travel to face Walla Walla University at 8:00 pm. Corban's next game is also at Walla Walla, Friday at 2:00 pm.Â
