EUGENE, Ore.  – The No. 8 ranked Northwest Christian University men's basketball team won their 13th consecutive game on Saturday and for the first time in over a decade the Beacons have posted a 20-win season. NCU knocked off Walla Walla for the win, 85-64, remaining alone in first-place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
Â
The Beacons (20-4, 13-1 CCC) shot 56% from the field and were once again lights-out from beyond the three-point arc, shooting 17-for-29 (59%). It is the fourth time this season that the team has shot better than 50% from outside.
Â
Head Coach
Luke Jackson said, "We played some of our best basketball in the second half, shooting the ball well and sharing the ball. I think Walla Walla is doing some great things and playing the right way and that is a credit to their coaching staff."
Â
The leading culprit this time out was junior
Jack Hackman (pictured) who tied the NCU single-game record, shooting 88% as he went 7-for-8, scoring a game-high 22 points. Senior
Javonte Byrd was close behind, going 4-for-8 on treys to collect 16 points along with a team-high three steals.
Omar Richards and
Donta Harris added 10 points apiece.
Â
The Wolves (3-19, 1-13) also had four players in double-figures, led by Ryan Spady with 17. Michael Isotalo scored 12 while Ethan Osias and Andrew Nye added ten points apiece. WWU shot 42% from the field.
Â
Northwest Christian will look to keep their roll going next weekend as they return home to face Evergreen on Friday and Northwest on Saturday. Both games will tip-off at 7:30 pm.Â
