Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University women's basketball team fell to Concordia University on Saturday night, 63-49, knocking the Beacons out of post season contention. A win would have left the door open for NCU to garner back-to-back appearances in the CCC tournament for the first time.
With the loss, Northwest Christian drops to 10-18 on the season including a 2-14 mark in CCC games. The Beacons do sit two games in the win column behind both Concordia (4-12) and Evergreen State (4-13) with two to play, but forcing a three-way tie with both schools next weekend would result in a loss in the tiebreaker, due to head-to-head results.
Lindsey Shearer (pictured) paced the Beacons with 16 points on a 7-of-15 shooting night from the floor.
Martha Taylor scored 11 and snared nine rebounds to fall one carom shy of a double-double of her own.
Jess Anderson also produced on both ends for the Beacons with ten points and seven boards.
Rachel Scarpelli led the Cavs with 16 points with nine coming by way of the three-point shot. Three other Cavs reached double figures as Malori Dixon added 13 while Courtney May and Kayla Bustos each chipped in with eleven.
NCU will close out the 2011-2012 season next weekend, hosting Oregon Tech on Friday night and Southern Oregon University on Saturday. Both games are scheduled for 5:30 pm tips.
