Owls Send NCU to Second Straight Loss

EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University women's basketball team dropped their second Cascade Collegiate Conference home game in as many nights, falling to Oregon Tech 56-50 on Saturday in the Morse Event Center.

The game was never as close as the final score would indicate as the Owls led wire-to-wire. The Beacons trailed 26-13 at the half and outscored OIT by seven points in the second half to keep it respectable.

NCU (6-5, 0-2 CCC) was led by Lindsey Shearer, a one-woman wrecking crew who finished with 15 points and five assists. Tami Brown came off the bench to score nine points and a game-leading six rebounds. The Beacons shot 38% from the field and had 11 steals on 23 Oregon Tech turnovers.

Freshman guard Sami Pitts (pictured) was a bright spot for the Beacons, coming off the bench to score seven points in eight minutes of work, shooting 3-for-4 from the field include one of NCU's two three-pointers in the game.

The Owls (8-2, 0-2 CCC) were led by Colleen Hunt, scoring 13 points. Nicole Aboumrad added 10 points but committed six of OIT's 23 turnovers. Kassi Conditt, Karissa Dixon, and Tess Armstrong scored nine points apiece with Conditt leading all players with eight rebounds.

Northwest Christian will be back in a week from tonight, traveling to face Linfield College (0-3) at 6:00 pm.
