Box Score CALDWELL, Idaho –
Jordan Myers blocked a game-tying three-point attempt at the buzzer and the Northwest Christian University men's basketball team held on a for a 64-61 road victory on Saturday night against The College of Idaho. Their ninth win of the season tops their 2010-11 total and propels the Beacons into a tie for seventh place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
With the Coyotes leading 48-47 with 9:41 remaining, NCU buckled down defensively, holding C of I to just one field goal over the next eight minutes to go ahead 64-57. However, a pair of Beacon turnovers and two lay-ups by the Yotes in response gave College of Idaho a chance with two seconds to play. C of I inbounded the ball to leading scorer Matt Ballenger who pushed the ball to Sydney Donaldson in the corner, but Myers deflected the shot to end the game.
The Beacons (9-10, 2-5 CCC), who lost
Jordan Buhler early in the first half to an ankle injury and were already without the services of two starters do to injuries, were led by freshman
Travis Pacos (pictured), scoring career-highs with 22 points, eight rebounds and five steals.
Greg Shepard added 12 points and
Brody McGowan threw in eleven along with seven rebounds. NCU shot 49% from the field and survived a 21-turnover night.

Coming off a tough Friday night in La Grande and then losing Buhler forced our guys to figure out how to finish off this road trip on a positive. Unsung heroes like

Justin Thomas played some key minutes in both games, but it was their play against College of Idaho that contributed to the win.”
The Coyotes (6-13, 1-7) were led by Rodney Delgardo with 20 points while Ballenger added 17 points and five rebounds. College of Idaho shot 40% from the field and was 2-for-12 from three-point range.
Northwest Christian will be back in action on Friday when they play host to Concordia University, with whom the Beacons are currently tied for seventh in the CCC.
