Defense Keeps it Close in Loss to Linfield

Box Score

EUGENE, Ore. – After scoring seven goals against Oregon Tech on Saturday night in their season opener, the Linfield women's soccer team was held to just two scores on Monday against Northwest Christian University in a 2-0 game at Mike Kelly Field.

The Beacons were out-shot 23-0 in the game and surrendered 17 shots-on-goal, but the stingy play of the defensive unit kept NCU in the contest the whole night.

Head Coach Brett Bentley Said, “I give a lot of credit to the defensive line and to Ali Foster tonight. They stepped up and made some tremendous plays and did a great job feeding the ball back into the midfield.”

Foster had a busy evening between the pipes, collecting a season-high 13 saves. The senior was active in stopping scoring opportunities before they began as well, making numerous stops on crosses and one-on-one drives.

The Beacons will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Klamath Falls to take on Oregon Tech at 3:00 pm. It will be a non-conference game against the Cascade Collegiate Conference foe.
