FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University women's soccer team dropped their third straight on Friday night, falling to Pacific University, 3-0.
“We played pretty sluggish tonight,” said head coach
Brett Bentley, “and we just couldn't do what we wanted to do on offense or defense. We'll have to regroup a little and look to learn what we can from tonight and improve upon this performance.”
The Beacons were outshot 16-6 in the game, but got shots-on-goal from
Brittany McKinley,
Kara Nelson, and
Karli Vath.
Ali Foster finished the night with eight saves, getting four in each half.
Pacific pushed across their first goal in the 23rd minute when Kaitlyn Harper took a cross from Jordan Bodily and headed in the eventual game-winner. It remained a 1-0 game through the rest of the first half.
The Boxers added an insurance goal in the 78th minute when Bodily scored off a pass from Shekema McCarthy, and just two minutes later they chipped in another as McCarthy sent a 20-yard bomb into the top left corner of the net.
The Beacons (0-3) will be back in action on Monday when they play host to Linfield College at 6:00 pm.
