Box Score

REDDING, Calif. – The Northwest Christian University women's soccer team dropped their season opener on Wednesday night, falling to Simpson University, 2-0. The Beacons were outshot 14-9 in the contest.

Ali Foster had a strong game in goal despite giving up the two goals, making six saves. Donn Almeida (pictured) led the offense with three shots on goal while Kara Nelson chipped in a pair.

After a close fought opening half the team remained scoreless. The Red Hawks, however, broke through with a goal from Bethany Dahl in the 53rd minute, off a pass from Kyra Nevard. Natalie Goens added an insurance score in the 80th minute.

Head Coach Brett Bentley said, “We really had a good game tonight, but the heat and fatigue really started to get to us towards the end. We are limited in number right now, but as those issues are resolved we will be in much better shape.

The Beacons (0-1) return to action on Friday morning, traveling to face William Jessup at 11:00 am. The Warriors are 3-1 all-time against NCU.
