Season Finale Set for Jeffers Center

SALEM, Ore. – Friday night will hold the final game of the season for the Northwest Christian University men's basketball team and the final game in the collegiate careers of NCU's four seniors, Quentin Guidry, Cameron Marshall, Brent McKee, and Kellen Spicer. The Beacons travel to Salem to face rival Corban University at 7:30 pm.

LAST TIME
NCU opened up Conference play back on December 3rd when they hosted Corban, defeating the Warriors, 69-58. Corban, who at the time was averaging over 90 points per game and ranked #11 in the NAIA in scoring, was held to just 33.9% shooting in the game, including a 26% clip in the first half as the Beacons held a 28-27 lead. Then NCU used an 11-4 run to open the second half, building an eight-point lead at 39-31 with 15 minutes to play. The lead grew to as many as 18 points before the Beacons settled in for the eleven-point win.

Northwest Christian was led by 19 points from Guidry, shooting 8-for-17 from the field. Spicer scored ten points with 13 rebounds and three steals while Marshall also scored ten. McKee added nine points and ten rebounds and Jordan Myers scored six points with a game-high six assists.

Corban was led in that game by Jordan Carter who shot 7-for-14 and tied Guidry with a 19-point effort. Erik Cronrath scored 16 points, including an 8-for-11 night at the free-throw line. Ian Logan went for a double-double, scoring ten points and ten rebounds.

WHAT'S AT STAKE
For the Beacons, it's a matter of pride. NCU will miss the post-season for the first time since joining the Cascade Collegiate Conference in 2006, but could put a nice stamp on the season with bookended victories over their biggest rival. NCU has defeated the Warriors in five of their last six meetings, but Corban holds a 37-10 lead in the all-time series.

For Corban, the stakes are high. Northwest Christian has the opportunity to put a dent in the Warriors playoff chances. Corban is currently 6-11 in the Cascade Conference and in a four-team battle for the final three post-season berths. Southern Oregon is 6-10 while Concordia and Evergreen State are each 5-11. All three teams have two games to play while Corban has just the NCU clash on their schedule this weekend. A win would go a long way towards earning a playoff slot, while a loss could be detrimental.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
Friday will mark the final collegiate games for NCU's seniors. Kellen Spicer and Quentin Guidry have had remarkable seasons, running one-two in scoring for the Beacons. Spicer has posted 434 points (15 ppg) and would crack NCU's single-season top-ten list with a 25-point effort on Friday.

Cameron Marshall will end his third season with the Beacons ranked 12th all-time in scoring. He currently has 773 points in his career. Brent Mckee has scored 833 points, which is tied for 8th all-time. McKee has played in more games (122) than in Beacon in school history.
