ROCKLIN, Calif.  – The Northwest Christian University women's basketball team held their second straight opponent under 50 points, claiming a 63-49 win over Linfield College on Friday night.

Lindsey Shearer once again led the team offensively, scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the double-double. Jess Anderson added 12 points while Aly Bruns scored eight points and five steals. Katie Collins came off the bench to score eight, adding a team-high three assists. Kelsey Atkins (pictured) also played a significant role for the Beacons on both sides of the ball, scoring four points in 24 minutes of action but added two steals and five rebounds.

Head Coach Liz Turner-Bolton said, “We will take the win. Jess hit some big shots as did Aly and Kelsey Atkins off the bench, though it was Kelsey's defense that really helped us tonight. Our defense did a better job in the second half after missing some box-outs early.”

Linfield (0-1) dropped their season opener despite the efforts of Gretchen Owens, scoring a game-high 17 points. Kaely Maltman added 15 points while Katelyn Henson scored seven points and a team-best seven rebounds.

NCU is back in action on Saturday night, playing their home opener against Simpson University at 6:00 pm.
