EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University women's soccer team played their home finale on Saturday afternoon, falling to Corban University, 5-0. It was the last appearance at Mike Kelly Field for the Beacons eight seniors.
NCU held things close for the first 33 minutes before Audrey Sullivan scored the eventual game winner and the first third of the hat-trick that she would record on the night. The score remained 1-0 at half-time, but the Warriors opened the flood gates as Sullivan got goals two and three just 44 seconds apart within the first five minutes of the second half.
In the 58th minute Rileigh Mankin made it 4-0 and Brittany Bowman chipped in the final score in the 71st minute. Both Tera McDonough and Emily Tsugawa grabbed a pair of assists in the contest.
Northwest Christian (1-13, 1-6 CCC) was outshot 13-5 in the game. Both of the Beacons two shots-on-goal came from Lindsey Johnson (pictured), forcing a pair of second-half saves for Warrior keeper Kaitlyn Mendenhall, who recorded the shutout.
Ali Foster recorded four saves for the Beacons between the pipes.
NCU will close out the 2011 season next weekend, traveling to face College of Idaho on Saturday at 1:00 pm before a Halloween showdown with Eastern Oregon at 2:00 pm next Monday.
