Beacons Struggle Against Eagles

KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Northwest Christian University women's soccer team was held without a shot-on-goal in their second-to-last game of the season, dropping a 5-0 decision to Northwest University in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

The Eagles out-shot the Beacons 20-6 including a 12-0 margin on frame, and scored three goals before the contest was even four minutes old. The scoring was in fact complete in the 25th minute and the Beacons made their best efforts to mount a comeback, outshooting NU by a 5-4 clip after halftime.

NU's Kelsey Frasier recorded a hat trick for the Eagles, scoring the first three goals of the game at 1:59, 2:59 and 3:30. Frasier then assisted on the fourth goal in the 22nd minute, passing to Jordyn Wilson for the score and in the 25th minute, Lizzie Perkins scored off a pass from Abby Brauer to complete to scoring.

Kara Nelson (pictured) and Karli Vath took two shots each for Northwest Christian (4-11-1, 1-7 CCC) and Ali Foster made seven saves in goal.

Northwest (7-3-4, 4-2-2) add three points to their conference standings and sit with 14 points, just one point back of a potential fourth-place standing and a playoff spot.

The Beacons will be back in action on Saturday, wrapping the 2010 campaign at Evergreen State College.
