Beacons Shutout by Eastern Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University women's soccer team was shutout on Friday afternoon by Eastern Oregon University, 3-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action at the Regional Sports Center in Springfield.

The Beacons defense held strong for the first 40 minutes, but the Mounties finally broke through with the game's first score in the 42nd minute. Lauren Robideau took a through ball pass from Kami Hernandez and went one-on-one against NCU keeper Ali Foster. Robideau's shot went off of Foster's diving arm, and bounced the final 10-yards into the corner of the net.

The Mounties scored again in the 58th minute. Hernandez picked up her second assist on a corner kick which bounced around in the box before Amanda Swensen pushed it across for the goal. Katie Yarnell also garnered an assist on the play.

Yarnell added another insurance goal for EOU in the 64th minute, taking a cross from Kendra Kuust for a strike into the right corner from inside the 8-yard line.

The Beacons (4-9-1, 1-5 CCC) were outshot 19-9 in the game while Eastern (4-6-1, 4-3) held a 11-5 edge in shots-on-goal. Foster picked up seven saves in the loss.
