Klamath Falls, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University women's soccer team fell to 0-2 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action on Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 loss to Oregon Tech on Trevor Derrah Field at Steen Sports Park. Oregon Tech moved to 7-3-0 on the season. The Beacons slip to 2-6-1.
Meghan Drost put Tech up 1- 0 after she took a perfect cross from Crystal Foster and scored inside the box into the lower right of the goal in the 15th minute.
Stellar play from NCU's Keeper Ali Foster kept it a close game as the teams entered the half with Tech holding a 1-0 lead. Foster stopped the Owls on several occasions including a beautiful diving stop on a Tech penalty kick.
Oregon Tech scored on a controversial call in the 70th minute as Hayley Smith nailed a 35 foot shot that the Beacons Foster initially saved but as she fell back was ruled to have carried the ball into the goal to give the home team a 2-0 lead. Tech would hold on to win 2-0.
The Owls out-shot the Beacons 25-10 and had a slight edge in shot on goal at 11-7.
Anna Tozier was credited with the shut-out win at goalie for Oregon Tech with a total of 7 saves for the game. Foster was spectacular in picking up the loss with a total of 9 saves for Northwest Christian.
Oregon Tech will host rival Southern Oregon University (7-2-1, 1-0 CCC) next Saturday afternoon at 4:00 pm on Trevor Derrah Field at Steen Sports Park.
