EUGENE, Ore. – After a scoreless first half, the Northwest Christian University women's soccer team fell to Corban College on Saturday evening, 5-0. The Warriors scored three goals in the final ten minutes of the game.
Neither team was able to get anything done for the first 60 minutes of the contest and Corban had out-shot the Beacons 10-0 in the first-half. Everything changed quickly, however and the Warriors struck first in the 62nd minute when Amanda Mendenhall kicked in the game winning goal off a corner kick from Erin Laughlin. Corban scored again just three minutes later and then a trio of insurance goals came in the final eight minutes including two goals by reserve player Marissa Walter, just one minute apart.
The Beacons finished the game with just one shot as
Heather Henderson put a shot into the Keepers hands late in the second half. Jennifer Bassett was awarded the shutout for Corban.
Northwest Christian (2-9, 1-2 CCC) will be back in action on Friday as they travel to face The College of Idaho. Game-time is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
