EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University women's soccer team held their opponent to a season low nine shots and just three shots on goal, but came up empty handed in a 1-0 loss to Southern Oregon University on Wednesday evening.
The Raiders (2-5, 1-0 Cascade Collegiate Conference) managed just one shot on goal in the second half but they made that one shot count, after 64 minutes of scoreless soccer, Southern Oregon got a throw-in that sailed into the box. Kelly Clark headed the ball towards Stacy Hamer, who then headed the ball past the NCU keeper and into the goal.
Northwest Christian (3-7, 0-2 CCC) went without a shot attempt in the second half of an incredibly tight defensive battle.
Rachel Nott (pictured) managed the one shot on goal for the Beacons during the first half, with the ball being collected by goalkeeper Jessica Kuehlwien for her lone save.
Katelyn Nistler had two saves of her own in the first half and has now allowed just four goals in the past four games.
The Beacons will continue their trek through the Cascade Collegiate Conference on Saturday as they travel to face Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls. The opening kickoff is slated for 5:00 pm.
