The first head coach for the NCU volleyball program, Coach Dale Weigandt returned to the sidelines in 2019 as an assistant with the Beacons. 

Weigandt spent three seasons at the helm of the volleyball program, leading a club team for one season before launching the varsity team in 2006. He earned 25 victories during his time, coached three academic all-conference athletes, one All-Conference athlete and one NAIA-Daktronics scholar-athlete. 

Prior to NCU, Weigandt coached for four years at Lane Community College and was named NWAAC Coach of the Year in 2003. He was also the head coach at North Eugene High School for 15 years, leading the team to multiple state tournaments. He was also named the Midwestern League Caoch of the Year in 1993. 

Coach Weigandt graduated from the University of Oregon in 1977 with a degree in Parks and Recreation management. Weigandt recently retired after a 46-year career with the River Road Parks and Recreation District where he spent the past few years as the superintendent. 

Weigandt and his wife Julie live in Eugene. They have two grown children.
