Coach Ben Voogd began as an assistant with the Men's Basketball program at Northwest Christian in 2010. Voogd brings an extensive playing background into the start of his coaching career.
Voogd played his high school ball at Siuslaw HS, where he was a McDonalds High School All-American Nominee and a three-time All-State selection.
Voogd began his collegiate career at Louisiana State University, where he was a member of the 2007 LSU team that won the SEC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Final Four, finishing with a #3 ranking in the AP Top-25.
After his sophomore season with the Tigers, Voogd transfered home and spent one year as a redshirt at the University of Oregon.
Voogd then transfered to Northwest Christian University, where he played his senior season, becoming NCU's first ever NAIA All-American in any sport. Voogd averaged 17.2 points per game and was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Newcomer of the Year and a First-Team All-CCC selection.
