KIRKLAND, Wash. - The Bushnell volleyball team continues to claim their share of first-place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference after another impressive performance, sweeping a road game from Northwest University, 25-18, 25-14, 25-12.
The Beacons (9-2, 4-0) remain undefeated in the CCC and have dropped just one set during circuit play. On Saturday they were fueled by another well-rounded performance, hitting .378 on offense while out-blocking the Eagles 6-1 and earning seven more service aces.
"All phases played at a high level tonight," said Head Coach
Jason Corwin. "Our defensive pressure made an impact. They struggled to score consistently and our offense was opportunistic. The setters did a great job and our hitters did some good work tonight."
Leading the way on offense was
Taya Blankenship (pictured), posting a match-high ten kills while hitting .444. She said, "With every game we play, our team gets more and more connected. Our chemistry is unmatched both on and off the court and I am so excited for what is ahead. I would seriously run through a wall for this team."
Amyah Semau added seven kills,
Jerzie Bair had six, and Soliel Sands went errorless for the third time in four matches, collecting four kills and four blocks. So far in Cascade Conference action, the senior middle is hitting .558 with just two errors and 1.6 blocks per set.
Chloe Farr led the passing and defensive effort with 15 digs and
Avery McCallister controlled the offense with a team-high 14 assists. "It is so exciting to see the talent on our team come together," said McCallister. "We went into this match with so much energy and started every set on top. It was a fun game both on the bench and on the court."
Northwest University (4-9, 0-4) was led by Chloe Kennedy, hitting .500 with eight kills and Jaelyn Moeva, who collected a team-high nine kills. Katelyn Bogetti led all players with 19 assists.
Up Next: The Beacons, who are likely to move back into the NAIA's Top-25 rankings when the newest coaches poll is released on Tuesday, has a big weekend ahead as they return to the Morse Center to battle for first-place against the last two undefeated teams in the NAIA. On Friday they take on No. 1-ranked Eastern Oregon University (15-0, 4-0) at 6:00 pm and then on Saturday they face No. 9 College of Idaho (11-0, 4-0) at 4:00 pm.
