LEWISTON, Idaho. – The Bushnell men's golf team took fourth place with junior
Matt Forsyth finishing second individually at the Cascade Collegiate Conference championships, taking place at Lewiston Country Club.

The Beacons (301-291-293—885) tied for the fourth-lowest three-round tournament in school history and finished in fourth place, nine strikes ahead of The College of Idaho and six behind Oregon Tech. Host Lewis-Clark State won the tournament by four strokes over the University of British Columbia.

The tournament serves double-duty both as the conference championship, sending the victor to the NAIA national tournament, and also as the final "regular season" tournament, applied toward the regular season CCC championship as well.

The Beacons take fourth-place in the CCC with a record of 17-15, their highest finish since winning the regular season championship in 2021.

Matt Forsyth Makes History

Tied for the clubhouse lead after the second round, junior
Matt Forsyth did everything in his power to try and keep the lead, shooting a three-under par 69 for the second straight round. He would end up taking second-place individually with a 72-69-69—210. He tied for the second-lowest three-round score in Beacon history and his six-under par was the best for a Beacon in 13 years.

Another 13-year old milestone was also achieved by Forsyth, who needed his very last shot to pull it off. Ending his tournament with a birdie on 18, the junior completes his season with a new school-record for stroke average at 72.080. By just one shot, he breaks the previous record of 72.083, held by Bushnell Hall of Famer Tyler Falk.

Isaac Wells followed in 20th, moving up one spot with an even-par third round to finish at 74-76-72—222.
Peyton Wiedenmann was close behind in 24th (79-72-74—225) while
Trison Hedges took 31st (76-78-78—232).

Shawn Petty played the final two rounds and officially took 44th place with a 74-79—153).
Jacob Holmes shot an 86 in the first round.
