Box Score EUGENE, Ore. - Â NAIA No. 2-ranked Eastern Oregon kept ahold of their piece of the Cascade Collegiate Conference lead on Sunday, taking two more games from Bushnell to complete a four-game weekend sweep.
Â
GAME ONE: No. 2 Eastern Oregon 5, Bushnell 3
Â
Bushnell out-hit the Mounties in the opener, 6-5, and finally found a little offense with three runs in the top of the seventh, but the rally would be cut short as EOU proved victorious.
Â
Violet Richardson (1-3) took the loss in the circle for the Beacons, despite one of her better pitching performances of the season, allowing just three earned runs and giving up only five hits to the potent Eastern Oregon offense.
Â
Six different batters earned hits for the Beacons including a two-run single for Wambolt in the seventh. Wambolt then scored on a
Riley Peeler single as well.
Â
GAME TWO: No. 2 Eastern Oregon 12, Bushnell 0 (5 Innings)
Â
McKenzie Bowling connected on one-out double in the top of the fifth inning, saving the Beacons from their second no-hit game in as many days, but EOU's ten-run second inning was hard for Bushnell to overcome in the run-rule defeat.
Â
Gabby Garza (0-3) went 1.1 innings for the Beacons in taking the loss, allowing six earned runs on six hits.
Â
Richardson (pictured) stemmed the tide, coming in to shut down the big second-inning rally before finishing the game with 2.2 innings of one-hit ball, striking out three batters. Â
Â
UP NEXT: The Beacons (3-14, 1-5 CCC) will come back home next weekend for a four-game series against Corban University (0-14, 0-6). Friday's double-header is scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
