No. 2 Mounties Sweep Bushnell Softball

EUGENE, Ore. -  Eastern Oregon showed a glimpse of why they are one of the top teams in the NAIA on Saturday, holding Bushnell to two hits in a pair of five-inning run-rule victories.

The Mounties (13-3, 4-1 CCC) had ten hits in each game and collected five homers, while the Beacons (3-12, 1-4) collected just two hits in game two against one of the best pitching staffs in the nation.

GAME ONE: No. 2 Eastern Oregon 8, Bushnell 0 (5 Innings)

Maliyah Moore (7-1) threw a no-hitter for the Mounties in the opener, striking out six batters. Three walks allowed kept her from the perfect game.

Violet Richardson (1-2) took the loss in the circle for the Beacons, giving up five earned runs in the complete game effort as the Beacons had two errors leading to three unearned runs. Richardson struck out three batters in four innings of work.

GAME TWO: No. 2 Eastern Oregon 11, Bushnell 1 (5 Innings)

Richardson was able to get the Beacons on the scoreboard in game two, providing the first hit of the day for Bushnell with a solo home run in the top of the second inning.

Unfortunately, the Beacons couldn't hold the early 1-0 lead with EOU scoring four runs in the second, third, and fourth innings.

Brooklyn Lick provided the other offense for Bushnell, earning a single in the top of the fifth inning.

Gabby Garza (0-2) took the loss for the Beacons, giving up six earned on six hits over the first two innings.
