SALEM, Ore. – The Bushnell men's golf team sits two shots off the lead at the Willamette Valley Cup, after shooting a four-over 288 on Saturday at Creekside Golf Club.

The Beacons are tied with for fourth-place with Pacific Lutheran University with both teams trailing Whitman University and Linfield University by one shot. Tournament host Willamette University sits alone at the top (286) with 18 holes remaining.

Bushnell is currently leading among Cascade Collegiate Conference teams, holding a two-stroke lead over Lewis-Clark State, who is receiving votes in the NAIA national coaches poll. Corban University is also in the tournament and shot a 302 in the first round.

Jacob Holmes (pictured) leads the way for the Beacons after shooting a two-under 69. His eight birdies helped elevate him to sole possession of second-place, three off the pace and one stroke ahead of 11 golfers who shot one-under 70's.

Among that group was teammate Peyton Weidenmann who had two birdies, along with an Eagle on hole 16.

Matt Forsyth followed, tied for 19th place with a one-over 72 while
Connor Cameron, playing as an individual, scored a 73 to hold part of 26th-place.
Trison Hedges followed in 53rd (77) and
Isaac Wells sits in 58th (78).

The Beacons will close out the tournament on Sunday.
