EUGENE, Ore. - Corban University put an end to their season-long 13-game losing streak on Friday afternoon, sweeping Bushnell University for their first victories of the season.
GAME ONE: Corban University 14, Bushnell University 11
Bushnell out-hit the Warriors in the opener, 17-16, but a four-run top of the seventh spelled disaster after the Beacons had taken their first lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth.
Bushnell trailed 10-3 after just two and a half innings, but came back strong with a run in the third, three in the fourth, three in the fifth and one in the sixth to take an 11-10 lead.
Violet Richardson (1-4) took the loss in the circle for the Beacons. The junior came into the game in the second inning and allowed six earned runs over six innings of relief. She had a big day at the plate, where she went 4-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored. It was the first four-hit game of her career.
Haleigh Wambolt,
Riley Peeler, and
Gracie Hamilton all had big days at the plate with three hits apiece and
Shyla Mead added three RBI in a 2-for-4 day.
Amy Jankowski (1-0) got the victory in Corban's first win since April 17, 2025. She threw the final 2.2 innings, giving up one run on five hits.
GAME TWO: Corban University 8, Bushnell University 1
Bushnell seemingly used up all of their firepower in the first game as they came back in the afternoon clash and managed just three hits against Corban started Kate Banks (1-2).
Makenzie Alexander and Richardson each had a double with Richardson's coming in the bottom of the third inning to score Alexander and give the home team an early 1-0 lead.
Sara Martin (2-8) threw 4.1 innings, giving up six runs on eight hits as Corban took the lead for good with a four-run fourth inning.
UP NEXT: The Beacons (3-17, 1-7 CCC) will play two more on Saturday with Corban University (2-14, 2-6), beginning with the third and final Cascade Conference game at 11:00 am.
