Men Roll Through Wolves, Remain Undefeated

COLLEGE PLACE, Ore. – The Bushnell men's soccer team earned their seventh win of the season on Sunday, taking down Walla Walla University on the road, 2-0, with their sixth shutout of the season.

The Beacons (7-0-4, 3-0-2 CCC) closed out the weekend as one of six undefeated schools remaining in the NAIA as their stingy defense allowed just seven shot attempts and three shots-on-goal. Goalkeeper Aaron Lowry finished off a perfect weekend as he grabbed his fourth clean sheet. The junior now leads the Cascade Collegiate Conference and ranks fourth in the NAIA in both goals against average (0.39) and save percentage (.879).

Offensively, the Beacons made the most of their limited opportunities against a stalwart Walla Walla effort, breaking through with what would amount to the game-winner in the 42nd minute. Joan Remo Morales sent a cross into the box where Brady Housley gathered the ball before firing home his fifth goal of the season. The junior now leads the CCC in assists (5) and points (15) and ranks second with five goals.

The Beacons were able to add a little insurance late in the second half as Sammy Bayer scored on a penalty kick in the 78th minute.

Head Coach Joao Ehlers praised his squad after the contest saying, "We were very consistent defensively once again and we were able to put away some of the chances we created. It was a tough weekend and I am very proud of how hard our boys are working game after game.

UP NEXT: The Beacons, who are currently in third-place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference will look to keep their bullet train rolling next weekend and will return to Washington, beginning with a 3:00 pm clash against Northwest University (3-6-1, 1-4) on Friday.
