EUGENE, Ore. – It was "field trip" day in the Morse Center as the Bushnell women's basketball team took on Lewis-Clark State College, falling 59-43.
Â
The Beacons (4-11, 2-5 CCC) shot just 26% in the game and were 3-for-18 from three-point range as their offense wasn't able to match a strong defensive performance that saw the Warriors held to just 38% from the floor at 5-for-28 from long distance. The Beacons forced 21 turnovers, but were out-rebounded 53-34 in the contest, which LC State led wire-to-wire.

Head Coach
Chad Meadors said, "Offensively it was a tough one tonight. We came out and we weren't ready to play and gave them a little more credit. They are a good team and we came out a little tight and had our problems putting the ball in the hoop. We fell behind 10-0 and lost by 16. It is tough to come back against a good team like that. Defensively we executed a really good game plan to hold them to 59, but we couldn't get the job done to get 60 points on the board, missing a lot of open shots."
Â
The Beacons were led by
Ayden Krupke, scoring a game-high 12 points with three steals before fouling out early in the fourth quarter.
Maddie Gerhart followed with 11 points while
Rose Gwillim (pictured) came off the bench to score nine.
Ciena Tumoine didn't score on her birthday, but did lead the Beacons with five rebounds.
Â
"Maddie is really evolving offensively and becoming a source of points for us," added Meadors, "and Rose has been battling all year to get back from injury and I think she performed will which is a real positive for us moving forward."
Â
The Warriors (11-4, 5-2), currently receiving votes in the NAIA national coaches poll, had five players in double-figures, led by 11 from Lindsey Wilson. Darian Herring was one of four LC State players to post ten points, adding a game-high 15 rebounds that included five of the team's 18 offensive boards. Also score ten were Sitara Byrd, Payton Hymas, and Ellee Brockman, who went 3-for-6 from three-point range.
Â
UP NEXT: The Beacons close out the homestand on Saturday at 6:00 pm as they take on Walla Walla University. The Wolves (2-11, 0-7) fell to No. 18 Corban on Friday afternoon, 105-48.
