LA GRANDE, Ore. – Playing the undefeated Eastern Oregon University on Friday evening, the Beacons showed plenty of fire, but succumbed to the Mounties in three sets, 25-21, 25-14, 25-16.
The Beacons (9-6, 3-2 CCC) fell victim to ten EOU service aces, and hit just .039, losing despite recording two more kills than the Mounties and holding the home team to a season-worst .150 hitting percentage.
The Beacons held their own early, scoring six straight points to jump out to a 9-3 lead in the first set. Eastern, however, was able to mount the comeback, fueled by a pair of late five-point runs.
Leah Agost was a bright spot for the Bushnell offense, collecting a match-high eight kills against just one attack error to hit .333.
Amyah Semau added seven kills while
Soleil Sands posted four kills and five blocks.
Emma Fa'alogo earned a team-leading 14 assists while
Kailey Shirley secured a match-high 11 digs.
Eastern Oregon (13-0, 5-0) received seven kills from McKenzie Jonas while Brooke Womack, Kiauna Mack, and Keira Vaughn scored six apiece. Mack added a match-high seven blocks.
UP NEXT: The path doesn't get any easier on Saturday as Bushnell travels to take on No. 12 College of Idaho (9-3, 3-2) at 6:00 pm MT. The Yotes come in on the heels of a four-set upset victory over No. 3 Corban University on Friday.
