EUGENE, Ore. – After posting a quartet of goals in their season opener, the Beacons were unable to find the back of the net in their second outing, falling to Pacific University at home on Sunday evening, 2-0.
Â
Bushnell (1-1) held the Boxers (1-1) without a shot attempt over the first 45 minutes, but things changed quickly in the second half as Pacific posted goals in the 54th and 64th minutes.
Â
The Beacons ended with an 11-10 advantage in shot attempts, but just one shot-on-goal in the game, despite spending an advantageous amount of time in their attacking third. "We played a lot better today but missed open opportunities that should have put the game away," said head coach
Halle Meadows. "It is a learning opportunity for us going into our next few games, and then heading into conference, because when we get there our chances will be fewer and we have to finish them."
Â
Elidia Cervantes was active for the Beacons, taking five of the teams 11 shots. For the Boxers, Gwendolyn Saing scored both goals off assists from Taite Taniguchi and Chanyn Santos.
Â
UP NEXT: Bushnell will look to rebound on Friday when they head to Redding, California to take on Simpson University (1-1). Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 10:00 am.
