Top-Ranked SOU Completes Weekend Sweep

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The NAIA's No. 1-ranked team showed a little more of why they are at the top of their game on Saturday, completing a four-game sweep as they defeated the Beacons, 7-0 in the third CCC contest and 14-2 in the non-conference fourth game.

GAME THREE: Southern Oregon 7, Bushnell 0

Southern Oregon freshman phenom hurler Ayla Davies had a perfect game going into the sixth inning and finished her complete-game shutout allowing just two hits while striking out a season-high 13 Bushnell batters. She picked up her NAIA-leading 18th victory and dropped her ERA to 0.65 in the process.

Brenna Wilson was able to break up the no-hit bid in the sixth with a single and Riley Peeler hit a double in the seventh.

The Raiders took advantage of three Bushnell errors as they scored four unearned runs in the contest. Sara Martin (4-7) went the distance for the Beacons, striking out two batters and giving up ten hits along with three earned runs.

GAME FOUR: Southern Oregon 14, Bushnell 0

The Raiders put together their best offensive output of the weekend in the non-conference fourth game, producing 14 runs on 14 hits, led by a 3-for-3 day from Hailey Seva who had a home run, scored three times and posted five RBI.

Emily Cole (2-11) took the loss in the circle, giving up seven earned runs on nine hits over the first five innings. The Beacon offense collected just three hits in the game, including an RBI single from Violet Richardson as part of a two-run bottom of the first inning.

Kennedy Kila (4-1) got the win for the Raiders, striking out three batters and allowing one earned run in five innings of work.

UP NEXT: The Beacons (6-21, 1-14 CCC) will look to get back into the playoff hunt over the next two weeks as they hit the road, traveling to face Providence (6-17, 3-12) and Corban (1-27, 1-14) in their next two series.
